Foundations of Representation Design

"CAPSICUMICA"

The Capsicum - dissected, reimagined, reframed

The capsicum translated into an abstract shape, patterns and made into a paper model.

Reimagining the capsicum into something more - a deconstruction, a model and a collaged narrative - my first design subject project explored the ways to evaluate and demonstrate design as foundational thinking moving forward in my degree.

The first project: An in-depth scrutiny of the capsicum, its textural traits and how to depict its essence from its form to its behavioural qualities.

The second project: My first attempts at digital software, Rhino, helped me develop a model that captured the essence of the first project's investigation into what a capsicum is. Here, the architectural presentation of model making, orthographic drawing, and collage rendering began to take shape.

The third project - The Quarry's Haze: A development of how narrative and atmosphere can be communicated through collage and photoshopping techniques, and how AI may be a useful prompt tool. A movie sequence is envisioned of a climber facing the daunting landscape of a quarry; its ominous haze and desolation revealing signs of life - capsicum - growing in isolation.
